TAKEAWAY: Forrester Research has released a report on a study about Web 2.0 adoption in business. The report seems to counter the idea that IT departments are the ones holding back the technology in business. Of the survey respondents, who were all IT professionals, 63% expected some impact from social technologies and only 3% of respondents viewed Web 2.0 in a negative light.
Respondents were, however, concerned about employees implementing technologies without sanction and the possible risks to sensitive company data. But IT departments were actually in charge of most IT deployments and were funding them, so IT certainly doesn't seem to need convincing about Web 2.0 as much as people thought.
