About this feature:
Welcome to another "First Look" podcast. I'm your host, ebizQ's Product Manager, Gian Trotta. Our guest today is Skyway Software CTO, Jared Rodriguez, who'll talk about how Skyway's Visual Workspace makes end-user customers both willing and able to participate in a truly interactive software delivery process. Welcome, Jared and thanks for joining us!
Gian Trotta: Jared, we'd like to learn a little more about Skyway and your solution, and I guess we'll start by asking this. Can you tell me, who is Skyway Software?
Jared Rodriguez: Sure! So Skyway Software has been around since late 2001, and we started the company really to address a lot of the challenges we saw in the software development and software delivery lifecycle -- the challenges around the expense, the complexity and making software and delivering it.
We also started Skyway in regards to the SOA initiatives that were springing up at the time, a lot of which we were pioneers in, in past lives before actually beginning Skyway. Several of us worked on the UDDI specification, worked on the SOAP specification. We could really see the writing on the wall that SOA combined with some new styles of delivery could be a very, very powerful tool. We've been actively selling our solutions since 2005, and we've got some great customers that are out there using the Skyway products today and seeing value out of them -- such as TD Ameritrade, British American Tobacco and many others.
GT: That's not a bad client list! What is your specific solution offering and what does it do?
JR: Well, we offer the Skyway Visual Workspace and we couple our workspace (that's a tool) with a set of processes that go around it that can really enable an organization to be more accurate in what it delivers, so as to ensure that the solutions that are built really match up to what business is looking for and what the end customers are looking for. And that process, combined with our workspace, enables it to be done much, much faster than can be coded today.
