This keynote presentation will start by considering what events are, including identifying examples of typical IT events and non-IT events. It will continue by exploring the Forrester taxonomy for event processing, which includes several different styles of event processing (from Systems and Operations Event Processing to Complex Event Processing to BEP to General Purpose Event Processing, and others) and how each of these is applicable within organizations. It will then assess the impact on both business (including business analysts) and IT professionals - for Forrester research indicates that there can be significant tensions in certain styles of deployment.
