This Thursday, March 10th, ebizQ/TechTarget will be presenting its 6th annual "BPM in Action" virtual conference, which explores the latest cutting-edge trends in business process management and related areas.

Gartner's Roy Schulte, co-author of Event Processing: Designing IT Systems for Agile Companies, will kick off the day with a keynote on "Improving the IQ of Your Business Operations." Schulte will explore how continuous operational intelligence differs from traditional business intelligence, design principles for using event processing for business-process improvement, and technology and software products that are used to address business activity monitoring (BAM) and other forms of business-event processing.

Kathy Long, president and consultant with Innovative Process Consulting, will follow up with a session on Process and Rules: Two Sides of the Same Coin. Long will discuss how to effectively and efficiently identify and capture process and rules in one effort, the dangers of viewing process and rules separately, and the tremendous benefits associated with a collective view of process and rules.

James Taylor, CEO and consultant with Decision Management Solutions, and co-author with Niel Raden of Smart (Enough) Systems: How to Deliver Competitive Advantage by Automating Hidden Decisions, will round out the morning with a talk on "Analytics in Action: BPM and Intelligent Operations." Taylor will explain how analytics drive effectiveness, not just efficiency, the central role that decisions play in linking business processes and analytics insight, and the role of business process management systems, business rules and analytics in delivering intelligent operational processes.

Forrester's Craig Le Clair will be taking the microphone at noon to talk about "Supporting the Information Worker: What Organizations Want from Case Management." He will cover what case management means to your organization, the benefits that forward-thinking business process pros can expect from case management, and implementation challenges and the need to create an organizational culture of new process thinking.

Finally, Dr. Setrag Khoshafian, vice president of product marketing & BPM technology at Pegasystems Inc., will cap off the day's events with a presentation on "Dynamic Case Management: A Foundation for Agile Enterprise Business Applications." Khoshafian will provide insights on understanding how Dynamic Case Management is becoming the foundation of next generation business application development, and help see what it means to create a "case layer", and why it is at the heart of an agile enterprise business application.

In this blog (formerly known as "SOA in Action"), Joe McKendrick examines how BPM and related business and IT approaches can promote business transformation.
