What Can You Say About SOA in the Elevator?

We've gotten some great responses to Peter Schooff's challenge to explain to your CEO, in the course of an elevator ride, why he/she should go along with that big SOA budget request.

Marc Rix, inspired by the discussion, came up with a hilarious Top 10 list of the "Top 10 SOA Elevator Pitches." It's worth a read. I don't want to give the whole thing away, but here are Elevator Pitches 8, 9, and 10:

10) Johnson in Marketing dared me to do it, sir. If you approve it I'll split it with you.

9) Pull the alarm, take CEO's wallet in the confusion, and escape through roof hatch.

8) You mean that needs your approval?
That last item actually resonates with many of today's realities. Many of the most pervasive SOA efforts have sprung up from the ranks, with proponents pushing these efforts through -- damn the beancounters, full speed ahead... 

So perhaps you should take the stairs -- it's good exercise, anyway.
