Judith Hurwitz and her team have just released their follow-up edition of SOA for Dummies. IBM's Sandy Carter recently spoke with Judith about this latest work, and Judith is totally bullish on SOA's prospects in enterprises.

Judith reports that she spoke with a number of CIOs, and noted a strong orientation toward employing SOA to drive business transformation:

"What has stayed with me is that these companies were starting with business strategy rather than starting with writing code. These companies were setting up centers of excellence to help guide the progress towards SOA. They were also spending considerable time on the organizational issues and business process issues. Several of the CIOs we talked to were able to use SOA to positively change the relationship they had with customers."
Judith says a lot has changed since the publication of the first edition of SOA for Dummies in 2007 -- at that time, organizations were experimenting with SOA. Now they're putting it to work.

Judith Hurwitz will be at IBM's IMPACT event the week of May 3rd, and copies will be available at the conference.
