Is Microsoft's SaaS Office Offering Really Just an Attempt to Push OneCare?

We knew this day was coming, and now it seems Microsoft has finally launched its Software as a Service Office offering for consumers. The project was called Albany while in development and is now named Microsoft Equipt, a subscription service for up to three PCs. The offering will be billed as an annual subscription and will offer Office and Windows Live OneCare.

In an article from eChannelLine, one analyst pointed out that Equipt could face a challenge in its security component, given that consumers who have already paid for an annual subscription from McAfee or Symantec might not want to tack on another annual subscription.

Analysts in an InternetNews article agreed, suggesting that Microsoft might be trying to spur adoption of OneCare by bundling it together with Office.

Equipt is about as much a SaaS product as I am Mother Teresa (and I'm neither Catholic, a nun nor a woman so that rules me out)

Anyone who thinks this is even the tip of the tip of the iceberg in terms of MS's S+S offerings is crazy

What is it that you guys expect???

If it is NOT a bundled approach it is SPLA licenses.

They do run a business you know.. :-)
