Business Intelligence on the iPhone

Doug Henschen did a great job in highlighting a new business intelligence application for the iPhone called RoamBI. Yes..."there is an app for that."

"The RoamBi iPhone application, which is available as a free download from the iPhone app store, provides tables, pie charts and other views formatted specifically for the iPhone. By visiting the RoamBi Publisher at www.roambi.com, users can upload Excel spreadsheets, HTML tables, CSV files and Salesforce.com reports and select the styles of visualizations desired. The basic publishing options are free, but MeLLmo says premium SaaS-based services, such as third-party content/development partner offerings, will be launched later this year."

Mobil BI is nothing new, but the mobile platforms have been pretty tough to deal with in the past. Since everyone has an iPhone, including me, why not put the BI software there so the darn executives will finally use it.

Indeed, the trouble with BI is that the BI systems have a tendency to be too complex and not at all accessible, or usable, by those that need the information. Mostly, these BI users are busy, and on-the-run, but still need BI to support decisions.

How's your business doing? Check the iPhone while running on the treadmill at the gym. In essence, having access to most of the relevant information you'll need, when you need it, pretty much anywhere in the world. The executives you support will love you.

However, currently RoamBI only supports SAP BusinessObjects and Salesforce.com as data sources. The enterprise server starts at $10,000 and they charge $100 per user. No support for the Blackberry as of yet, but I sold mine a year ago.

I was reluctant to purchase UGG Classic crochet boots unless I found them on sale, but after trying them on and wearing them for a bit, I woulda payed full-price for these boots.
