That takes considerable technical understanding and teamwork with experts. It also takes real business understanding of the human factors and what really drives company performance and improvement.
I believe:
1) There are no green fields left. Everyone has expertise and knows solutions which work. I believe in building on this expertise rather than starting from scratch.
2) Buying is collaborative. Put something on a meeting agenda and by the time the meeting rolls round people will have solutions, vendors, key features and even pricing. Leading a buying decision is about bringing all of these thoughts and perspectives together, not about becoming the expert who tells everyone else what they should have.
3) Buying starts long before the defined purchase process. Every day in response to push marketing, we make Yes/No/Maybe decisions about dozens of products and solutions. Building credibility here is vital. Preferred partner is also a much better achievement to aim at than a sale.
4) Buying is as much about satisfying personal needs as corporate ones. It is important to remember that for major purchases it is a career decision and credibility is on the line.
5) Marketing is the interface between customer and company - helping people make the right decisions for them, not pushing what the company wants to sell.
I'm at T-Impact because they share my approach. They can transform the capability of a business within weeks. They can set it up for the future with systems which improve, not decay over time. They speak business, not IT and cut through to the real business drivers.
But no-one has heard of them or understands just what can be achieved. That's the sort of challenge I like.

Abdulazeez M. Sadeqi (Azeez) is the Head of Business Process Management in National Bank of Kuwait (NBK Group) and Deputy Head of Process Re-engineering. He received his B.S. in Food and Human Nutrition from Colorado State University with a Minor in Anatomy & Neurobiology in 2004. His final semester at the University he was recruited by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and as he was going through the process of acceptance in the Bureau, which can take several years, he felt it to be beneficial to learn finance. At the end of 2004, Azeez Joined Key Bank (Key Corp) in Denver Colorado as a Teller, he used his knowledge of medicine and nutrition to his advantage, and as he grew through the ranks at Key Bank, Azeez held a portfolio of mostly clients in the health industry. In 2008 he made the decision to cancel his process in the FBI and accepted a position with NBK, in their Consumer Lending Department. His achievement in the department was the transformation of the department into an organized department that was able to produce quality work, faster service and accurate reporting. This was the stage in his life where he found his interest in Business Process Management. In 2010 he was appointed to head a new department that manages NBK group processes and procedures. In addition, Azeez also continued his education, receiving his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool (UK) in 2012.
