James Taylor's Decision Management

Dashboard humor

Tony had a great post on dashboards that I just had to share! I loved the point about people making decisions based not on data but on company politics. This kind of thing is what Ian Ayres considers in Super Crunchers when he makes the point that algorithms often outperform experts.
My own view of dashboards was perfectly expressed in a title some time ago when I said "If dashboards are the end game, kill me now..."

Sometimes I try to add a little humor when it's relevant to my topics. This particular comic made me literally laugh out loud because of how much it rings true.

Decisions based on gut and feeling are still faily prevalent, but diminishing. With the economy squeezing so much and shareholders/auditors holding the microscope, companies are almost forced to substantiate their claims with data or facts.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post!
