Decision management and.... driving.

A couple of interesting examples of the kinds of decisions that can be automated for efficiency and better customer service around driving today. First there is this one about avoiding left turns and allowing self-service re-routing. Then these was this about the growing use of sensors in and around vehicles. Both of these are clear opportunities for decision management. Not only are there a ton of rules involved in driving decisions (when is a left turn allowed, how fast is the speed limit etc), the use of predictive analytics to estimate likelihood of delays, for instance, or to predict the risk of damage from a road surface is growing. I have blogged before about the use of decision management in robotic driving and the growth in sensors and sensor data can only accelerate the day when all this becomes mainstream.
