I was reading this article on Your BPM-Enabled SOA by Michael Scheible, BPM Development Leader in IBM's WebSphere group. As it was talking about the intersection of BPM and SOA I thought it would be worth highlighting a few things:

I think you need to consider events, BPM and SOA together - check out this post on event-driven issues (and especially this great article)
One of the critical kinds of services that you need to deliver on real process automation is decision services
It is important that decisions are part of your mental model of rules in BPM
I think rules and BPM will come together in 2007
