« Are you ready for decision management? Part 5 | Main | Another opinion on intelligent business processes »
December 04, 2006Better Business Performance with Analytics
I saw this interesting article on analytics in BI Review today - Analytics and Business Performance. It's a nice overview of how a fairly sophisticated company does predictive analytics. A couple of thoughts
- If you have no idea what predictive analytics are, check out my FAQ on my other blog
- Don't forget that there are rules to follow too - just because the analytics say it will be profitable to do something does not mean you are allowed to, you still need to follow your operating rules.
- Implementing the decisions you are optimizing using business rules will also let you build with change in mind
- I think the process of focusing on the right decisions and automating them requires some new thinking (outlined here for example)
- A coherent approach to decision automation and management can give you a better platform for bringing intelligence into your business processes
- It is particularly important to adopt these approaches if you care about leveraging customer intelligence
- This is all about turning your transactions into better decisions
Enjoy the article, it's a good one.
