From a Jason McIntyre Blog...
I am often asked what Business Intelligence can do for my business. So my response is... Business Intelligence [BI] is both a management process as well as a collection of software applications and underlying technology that enables organizations to make better business decisions by exposing key metrics that drive the organization.
Organizations that have successfully implemented BI systems have better and timelier access to customer activities, marketplace trends, supply chain issues and a host of other key performance indicators [KPI's] that are not able to be easily measured in a non-BI environment.
My Thoughts...
I would say that Business Intelligence is both a management process as well as a collection of meaningfully displayed information so that better business decisions can be made quickly.
The successful company has better and timelier access to business information like customer activities, marketplace trends, supply chain issues and other key performance indicators.
They strive to:
- Increase revenues through improved product/service offerings, improved customer support, faster market response, etc.
- Decrease costs through fewer physical repositories, lower hardware/software and facilities costs, reliable operation, leveraging their existing application investments and greater collaboration.
- Reduce risk through access to more complete, fresher data delivered in real-time.
Your Thoughts...
Has your company addressed these issues?
