Hello all,
First, I'd like to thank the folks at ebizQ.net for reaching out to me and offering me the ability to share my experiences within the Social space on their site and within my blog. I hope that you'll find the information that I blog about useful.
Now, a little about myself. I have been working within Social Media and online community building since 1998. In the late `90s, I was afforded the opportunity to live in the SF Bay area (San Jose, to be specific). Working in a Customer support role @ Fogdog Sports, I moved into a different role, implementing Bulletin Board System (BBS) content within the eCommerce user flow. It was more of a Marketing role at the time, and there was no real "Community" title yet. I point out my background in Support because I feel that there is a lot of overlap between a Customer Support role and Community role - in both Communication is key. From there I spent 5+ years at eBay, within their Community Development department. During my time there, I held many different roles and responsibilities: Vendor management, Community Project manager, Focus group manager, and International consultant. I gained a ton of experience and insight as to what communities are, how they should be managed, as well as how to communicate with your members.
From there I moved back to the east coast and worked for a couple of different White label SaaS providers of Online Communities (Prospero, Mzinga). Roles I held included Community consultant and Director of Moderation Services.
I am now working at Ektron, (provider of Web Content management solutions) as their Social Media Strategist, assisting businesses with developing and growing their Social Media presence.
I am very passionate about Social Media and online community building While there is no one solution or formula that can solve everyone's challenges, I do believe that I can play an important role in reviewing the needs and desires of our clients and help them develop a Social strategy that ensures a successful solution and implementation.
Thanks for reading, and I hope that you enjoy
