As many of you know, this past week I was in beautiful San Diego at the Gartner BPM Summit. While the all-over attendance was lower than normal, I heard from many of the vendors that the quality of the conversations were much higher, in that anyone who could get permission to travel to the show meant they had to be very serious about BPM.
There was almost an electricity in the air at the show, as while we are clearly still in the midst of some difficult times, it has almost become accepted wisdom that process management is the way to prosperity for many companies.
I managed to check in with Savvion, Global 360, Appian, Lombardi, Fujitsu, ActionBase, Metastorm, Corticon, and IBM.
Some impressions I got from the show were that quite a few of the companies were focused on ease-of-use for their BPM applications in order to raise the adoption rate across the company. Also, there was a big emphasis on BPM in the Cloud, as well as a focus on analyzing and automating processes. Also, I liked that when I asked several companies what was ahead for them in terms of messaging, they said they weren't quite sure yet, as their message would have to be different if the economy was still headed down or had already started to turn around. I certainly hope it's the later, and instead of reporting any more about the show, please tune back in next week where I will be posting a daily podcast recorded live from the show.

What about integration of BPM and BRMS?
Did you get a chance to meet Pega Systems?
Good point, David, and something I should have mentioned, but I think it did come up in several of the podcasts I recorded, so keep checking back all this week where I let the vendors speak for themselves. The first one from IBM is already up.
And sorry, Kannan, I never did get to podcast with Pega, but I do know the publisher of ebizQ, Les Yeamans, did manage to have a quick meeting with someone from Pega.
To make up for that, though, I would be willing to record a podcast the second half of April with Pega. Please have someone contact me at peter@ebizQ.net.
